Kate Gibson, the founder and Principal Clinical Psychologist at Mornington Psychology, believes that everyone can benefit from learning skills to manage the various difficulties that can arise across the lifespan, whether these be large or small. Kate has a strong interest in positive psychology and wellbeing. She uses a practical and reflective approach to assist clients to be the best person they can be in line with their own personally important goals. Kate’s style is authentic, respectful and empathetic. She uses a range of evidence-based approaches depending on the particular needs of the person she is seeing.

Kate brings a full life experience that allows her to quickly build a strong rapport with clients by expressing, not only empathy, but a genuine understanding of many of life’s situations.

Kate works with adults, couples, families, teenagers and children, across a full range of psychology including:

  • ​​Marital and relationship difficulties;
  • ​​Life adjustment issues including grief and loss, stress management;

Kate has conducted postgraduate research to better understand people’s experience of depression and taking antidepressants. In Kate’s research she discovered that antidepressants tend to treat the symptoms of depression but not the underlying causes. Some people feel the need to reduce antidepressant use in order to address these underlying causes. Kate is particularly skilled at helping people with this process.
